We finally have an answer to a burning question from the series premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place!

In the first episode of the sequel series, it was revealed that Justin Russo (David Henrie) was fired from his headmaster position at WizTech, and was living his life as a normal human with his family, who had no idea he was a wizard.

Now, a new episode of WBWP debuted this past Friday (January 17) on Disney Channel and explained what went down for him to lose his job.

In the episode, titled “Potions Eleven!,” when Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) uses a potion to enter Justin’s mind, she discovers what really happened during the infamous “Unicorn Incident” that got him fired from WizTech.

For those that didn’t catch the episode on Disney Channel, the network shared a clip online, revealing the events leading to Justin losing the job.

In the clip, we see Justin getting set up and framed by Alistair Goodspeed, who took over as Headmaster after he got Justin fired.

So, what happened?

Someone set off fireworks early ahead of a graduation ceremony, which was a cue for the marching band. After the band started playing, they spooked the unicorns, who then started stampeding towards the students.

As Justin prepared to cast a protection spell, his wand wouldn’t work, and Alistair stepped in to help. Then, they called it an honest mistake, but that’s what it took for Justin to be fired.

As Billie noticed there was a portion of the memory missing, she cast a spell to unlock the missing part and it was revealed that Alistair hexed Justin’s wand. Justin saw him doing it so Alistair cast another spell on Justin, which wiped his memory of what he was seeing.
